Ranya Marrakchi
Co-Study Coordinator
Ranya Marrakchi, a medical graduate alumna from the University of Miami, holds a Master’s in Public Health, specializing in Epidemiology. The diverse range of disciplines she studied during her undergraduate and graduate education has equipped her with the expertise and training to address a wide spectrum of medical and public health issues encountered throughout her professional career.
Her journey with the lab began when she received an offer to become a research fellow in the Minority Health and Health Disparities International Research Training program, which is funded by the National Institute of Health in partnership with the University of West Indies, under Dr. Denise C. Vidot. This opportunity entailed traveling to Kingston, Jamaica, to gain practical experience with study initiation and execution, as well as aiding in the establishment of their HIV and cannabis research program. She takes pleasure in continuing her research as a research assistant specializing in cannabis and psychedelics under her guidance.
These invaluable experiences have solidified Ranya‘s lifelong purpose – to serve and empower under-resourced communities by providing essential public health services that protect and promote the well-being of individuals. Her aspirations revolve around contributing to research on sustainable health systems and mitigating suffering through rigorous scientific inquiry, collaborating closely with community leaders and fellow healthcare professionals. Ultimately, her unwavering determination centers around achieving health equity, eliminating disparities, and enhancing the health outcomes of diverse populations both domestically and globally.
