Elayna Bassuk

Elayna is a junior at the University of Miami majoring in Public Health and minoring in Spanish and Health Management & Policy. She has interests in cancer, health prevention, epidemiology, and health economics, exploring all sides of healthcare. This past summer she did the SURF program at UM’s Miller School of Medicine, where she extensively learned about research working in Dr. Sophia George’s lab. Specifically, she worked on a qualitative project measuring how extreme heat impacts the lives of people with cancer in Miami-Dade. She aspires to work in the health field as a data analyst, epidemiologist, or health educator. In her free time she likes to go on walks, be with friends, and listen to music.
